I am a member of lots of recipe and kids food boards on Facebook and get a lot of inspiration for new ideas from them. One of my favourite boards is “Lunchbox Ideas for Kids”. It is primarily an Australian group and the many thousands of members share their children’s lunchboxes as in Australia most children take a packed lunch to school. The Boy has school lunches but I pack both kids a “dinner box” once a week as they eat dinner in the car on the way to a class for him and he also has a packed lunch for holiday camp. I honestly can’t tell you how excited they are every week to see what I have packed in their (fabulous) lunch boxes. Here are a a few “dinner boxes” that I have made for them and I hope it gives some of you ideas of what to pack for your kids lunch boxes for school or holiday camps.
The Boy has frankfurter sausages, breadsticks, cucumber, grapes, sliced apple and buttered “rainbow bagel” (a fabulous bakery near us sells these amazingly colourful bagels!!). He also has a bag of chocolate chip cookies for a treat.
Little Lady has frankfurter sausages, breadsticks, grapes, sweetcorn, sliced apple and a plain bagel.
Both kids have chicken nuggets, grapes, apple crisps, Alphabites Bear cereal, cucumber and a few hula hoop crisps.
The Boy has pitta and humus and Little Lady has crumpets with butter.
Both have breadsticks, cucumber, Alphabites letter cereal and sliced apple. Boy has pitta with hummus and girl has mini bagels with hummus (she doesn’t like pitta), steamed carrots and baby flapjacks too.
Little Lady stayed at home while The Boy went to his class but I still made her a “dinner box plate” so she didn’t feel left out and so I didn’t have to make 2 completely different dinners!
Both have homemade chicken nuggets, cucumber, breadsticks. The Boy also has a hummus sandwich, mini pretzels and a bag of chocolate chip cookies as a treat. Little Lady also has potato letters and baby sweetcorn.
This meal was a “Lunchbox style dinner” for both kids at home. Both kids have Easy Peasy Cheesey Scones , pitta with hummus, and crudités. Little Lady also has lentil and sweet potato cheese pie.
Note:
The Boy has a Sistema Lunch Cube lunch box and Little Lady has a Boon Trunk Lunchbox. Little Lady’s dinner plate is from Cath Kidston.
Hi, do you make your potato letters?
Thank you for the inspiration. I always struggle with lunches (and the one lunch box dinner I need a week)
Hi, do you have any easy recipes for healthy rice crispy or cornflakes treats?
Thanks X
