A few months ago I showed you all what I have in my freezer for my kids – What’s in the MMM freezer?. This was in response to people asking me ALOT what I cook for my kids and how I have time to make all the food I do. I am still getting asked this regularly and my response is still the same – I batch cook ALOT!! I always make big portions of everything then freeze it in portions. This ensures I generally have something easily available to feed my kids and means I don’t have to spend every day chained to the kitchen.
I thought I would let you inside my freezer again today as I have been cooking a lot the last few days as I want to be prepared for the summer school holidays. I hope you find it interesting to see what I have and I would love to see what you have in yours!
A firm favourite in my house with both kids I ALWAYS make sure I have lots in my freezer. I make this with beef or turkey mince and the kids have it with pasta, couscous or rice.
This is a great alternative to meat bolognaise and this recipe is a big big favourite with one of my friends who’s little girl adores it and she just told me her mum makes it all the time for her and her dad! It makes a lovely rich sauce that I serve over pasta, couscous or rice.
I make these in bulk then freeze them wrapped in clingfilm in portions of 4 pieces. This means I can just take out one “pack” and it feeds both my kids at the same time. Much healthier than store bought chicken products and they take no time at all to make.
The Boy adores these and I make loads of them to always have handy for a quick snack for him. I frequently take them to school with me when I pick him up as he is ravenous and they are really filling as they contain carbs and if you put some cheese into them too they are a great protein hit too.
Another favourite of The Boy (and when he likes something it’s such a bonus I take advantage of it!) so I always have a stash of these in my freezer. Little Lady frequently has them for lunch after nursery with some veggies and fruit too. They are so easy to make and don’t require any fancy ingredients.
Since I first started making these burgers well over a year ago I have constantly had them in my freezer. At the moment I have lamb and beef ones but I usually have some chicken and turkey ones too. They are totally delicious and, as they have potato in them, are extremely filling. I often make them for Mr MMM and I for dinner too.
I make this a lot for Mr MMM and I and always make a double portion so I can freeze some for the kids. They love it with rice and I use any kind of sausage. It’s really yummy and full of good things.
I probably make this sauce once every two weeks as my kids adore it and as The Boy barely eats any vegetables I try to give him this often as it is packed full of them. They have it with pasta and some grated cheese (for the protein element) or over some rice. I also frequently add red lentils to it so the kids get more iron and protein into them. We also use it as a pizza sauce and I mix it with beef sometimes for a really quick bolognaise.
These are a lifesaver for me as Little Lady frequently rejects her breakfast so I tend to give her a few of these in the buggy on the way to take The Boy to school and they are a great alternative to cereal or toast. They also taste so yummy I have been known to sneak a few for myself!
I hope this is interesting to you all and please send me what you have in your freezer!!!
When are you coming round to batch cook for me??
