I have been on holiday for the last couple of weeks but while I was away I have to admit both kids ate their fair share of ice cream and lollies. Now we are back it’s a return to limited sugar and healthier meals so I thought I would revisit a post I wrote last summer when we were having hot weather in the UK. I hope you enjoy these sugar free homemade ice lollies! Continue reading

Off The Shelf Favourites
It’s no secret that I don’t always cook things from scratch for my kids. I frequently use off-the-shelf, shop made stuff as frankly I don’t have the time or energy some days to make them fully homemade meals. I was doing my online grocery shop the other day and realised I tend to always buy the same things for my kids. I thought it would be useful to show you what my favourite Off The Shelf foods are. Where possible I do try to get sugar or salt free items or as low sugar/salt as possible (but sometimes honestly you just can’t get such options) so I hope these are helpful. Continue reading
Lazy lunches
The last couple of weeks in the MMM household have been a bit manic as our house is being redecorated and I have also been away so I haven’t been able to be in the kitchen as much as I would like. Consequently I have had to make very quick lunches for Little Lady while dodging builders and packing for my holiday. As you all know I live in the real world and believe everything is fine in moderation so have been using some processed food for her lunches but I have balanced it out with plenty of fruit and veg. I also have had lots of fun using my fab new plates which actually I have noticed have made a huge difference to both my kids’ enthusaism when eating. So here are some hopeful helpful ideas for quick lunches when you are short on time or just haven’t got the energy to be a domestic god/goddess! Continue reading
Sugar Free Peanut Butter Banana Muffins
It’s Monday so that means its My Mini Meals Mates Monday! Here is a great recipe for Sugar Free Peanut Butter Banana Muffins from my lovely friend Rachel. I love using bananas in things as they are great sugar replacement and these muffins combine bananas with the deliciousness of peanut butter. For totally sugar free muffins use sugar free peanut butter of which there are a few brands out there. You can make these in standard muffin size cases or in mini ones for bite size loveliness. Perfect for breakfast, snack or a bedtime treat as they won’t send your kids hyper as they have no sugar in them. Thanks Rachel!
Nuts about Peanut Butter
We are a peanut butter loving family. Smooth, crunchy, extra crunchy, in cakes, in snacks, on toast, in ice cream – you name it, we love it! Since having children I buy sugar free and preferably salt free peanut butter and it tastes just as nice as the sugar and salt loaded versions. Peanuts are a great source of protein so I’m more than happy to give my kids peanut butter as a snack and The Boy frequently has it on toast or with breadsticks as a bedtime snack. Here are 3 of my favourite recipes using peanut butter and, especially if you use the sugar and/or salt free versions, they are really healthy. Enjoy and go nuts about peanut butter! Continue reading
Sugar Free Biscuits – Part 1
I buy a lot of biscuits from the baby food aisle and both my kids love them but it’s always nicer (and cheaper!!) to make your own. The Boy loves helping me in the kitchen so I try where I can to involve him when I bake. As you have guessed by now I try to avoid giving the kids sugar wherever possible so here are 3 biscuit recipes that are baby, toddler, child and adult friendly and none of them have any refined sugar in them. The first one does have honey but it’s a small amount so it’s good for children over 1 but remember that under 1’s should not have honey. I have called this post Sugar Free Biscuits – Part 1 as I have a few more recipes in my collection but want to save them for another day! Continue reading
Peanut Butter and Banana Cookies
Being a Stay at Home Mum I really value the times that Little Lady naps whilst The Boy is at school as its “Mummy time”!! Normally while Little Lady sleeps I do a bit of cooking or cleaning then I always make sure I sit down with my lunch and watch some TV. One of my favourite things to watch is Masterchef Australia and I absolutely love Matt Preston’s recipes as, like me, he uses hardly any ingredients and, like me (!!!), ends up with delicious things. One thing he made in the last series stuck with me as a great thing to make for the kids but as it contains lots of sugar I didn’t make it. Then recently I had a brainwave and amended the recipe and I created a completely (refined) sugar free yummy snack. Little Lady gobbled them up and as usual I have yet to tempt The Boy to try them. Mr Mini Meals also said they were yummy.
